I am available to provide a memorable, engaging, and personal celebrant service for your important life transitions

With a passion for and expertise in relationships and family wellbeing and a background in public speaking, I am an ideal person to help you create a ceremony that honours the important moments in your life in a way that is memorable and meaningful for you and for the people closest to you.

I am a former Families Commissioner, a psychologist specialising in relationships and family wellbeing, and a creative writer. Moreover, I have been a daughter, a mother, a grandmother, a step-mother, a wife, an aunt, and a friend. I have a deep understanding of the impact of making life-long commitments, of losing a loved one, of celebrating a life, and of naming and bringing a baby into the world.

Ceremonies help us mark these events, they allow us to invite our families and loved ones to share our joys and our losses. I feel honoured to be invited to help people to plan and create ceremonies that uniquely celebrate who they are.I am available for

  • marriage, including same-sex marriage
  • civil union ceremonies
  • Renewal of vows
  • Naming ceremonies
  • Funerals
  • Other important life transitions

I am a secular celebrant, but I am happy to include spiritual elements into a ceremony.

I live in Wellington and I am happy to act as your celebrant in the lower North Island as well as Nelson and Marlborough.  I can be in other parts of New Zealand by arrangement.

You can contact me by e-mail - pryorjan6@gmail.com.

"Jan married us with charm, style and serenity. She guided us through dreams and details, making romance and beauty fit with reliability and efficiency.  Thank heavens she reminded us about the marriage licence.  She engaged and included everyone, and still stood away from the limelight.  Magic!"  Gillian

"We really valued having you as our celebrant. You were a calm, reassuring presence that helped the day go very smoothly. We wanted someone who we could trust to deal with any issues that arose, and was able to help us through a (potentially!) stressful time. You did all those things." David
